Courting Disaster

In his writings, Tolkien depicted Hobbits as fond of an unadventurous bucolic life of farming, eating, and socializing, although capable of defending their homes courageously if the need arises. They would enjoy at least seven meals a day, when they can get them. This is the third of this series – the day to day life of hobbits in the Shire of Middle-Earth – but in a place where common sense and a hobbit’s natural dislike of water, boats and the fear of the word “drownded” gets ignored and makes way for the euphoria of romance.
